the parts head was $25, I figure it was worth the investment. If it turns out to be as hopeless as some of my other projects like the ice box conversion, plan B is to take it to the Biomed Tech department at my school and have them take a look. As far as waterproof? Not so much. The faceplate has rubber/silicone switch covers that rest in openings, they would be more water resistant in my opinion, I figure the suncover would shield these switches from rain, washing, etc. Yes, the back is supposed contain a vent so must be shielded. Good to know about the X5, plan C.
I kind of figured it was pointless to send it to RM.
