But I would consider making patterns, then have them cast and machined.
Haven't personally cast any bronze, but used to work in a foundry and I've poured a lot of aluminum - thankfully none into my boots! Also a few tons of lead for a keel (another story).
I've toyed with the idea of getting a small lathe, but haven't yet. Band saw with bi-metal blade and a drill press is about my limit. I also farm out my welding work.
Networking is a great thing - find the people that have the capabilities that you need. In an ideal world, you'll have the talents that they need and both parties come out ahead.
