Rick, more info please
In Response To: Long island ()

I've been into almost every gunkhole and harbor in LIS at least once and more times than I can count for the preferred ones. Best cruising guide IMHO is the Maptech Embassy Guide to LIS, supplemented by ActiveCaptain.com . If you can answer the following I'll give you my best advice:

1) Are you planning on heading straight through, or on hanging around for a while?
2) If the latter, how long? If the former, which end would you start at, and how many days will you allow, assuming good weather?
3) Your draft? Your motoring or planning speed? Hours per day underway? (under 6, under 10, etc.)
4) Prefer anchoring, moorings or marinas or a mix?
5) Activities special interests: e.g. shopping, antiques, history/museums, restaurants, etc.
6) Dogs or kids aboard? (any other special needs)

BTW Doug's modest. He probably knows it as well as I do.
