Agree, been there and done that
In Response To: I concur except ()

Last time we went to Huntington YC (over 5 years ago) we were told the pool was off-limits to guest mooring users, and only for members. But the reason I wrote that is there isn't much to offer right there. Without a car he's fairly limited and Northport offers much more of an "experience" ashore with the main town right at the dock. Also, besides the Northport village there is the Vanderbilt Museum on the west shore (Centerport YC side). We walked there from the YC (a good workout, especially with that huge steep hill) and enjoyed it. Centerport YC offers everything Huntington YC has, including the pool, and they have beautiful showers and let guests use the pool.

We walked north and south from the Huntington YC and although it's a beautiful area with some interesting sights (residential north, and scattered businesses including a West Marine south, if that's needed) it doesn't compare to Northport. On limited time I still say he should skip Huntington.
