One more question. . .

() I'll post it here so the uncounted multitudes can read the answer for the life of the intertubes. . . .
The flange is about 1 1/4" wide. Will one 1/2" strip of butyl expand horizontally to fill the whole flange? Or should I lay out two strips parallel to each other? Would two strips have the risk of introducing an air bubble that would eventually leave a gap?
