not exactly sailing related, but it could be crossed over. I'm hoping that someone here has a vegetarian background and can help me out with some suggestions. I am by no means a vegetarian, I don't understand the levels or what can or can't be eaten. Here on the North Coast there are two traditions. Deer camp is in the Fall, Trout Camp is in the Spring. Everyone looks forward to the opening day of trout season as a chance to get out to the cabin, fish, drink and eat, especially after being stuck inside this winter. This year, one of my sons has invited his future father-in-law who is now a vegetarian after having some major medical issues. I am the camp cook and as normal camp fare we eat lots of deep fried things, sausage sandwiches, smoked venison, bacon wrapped everything, burgers, dogs, etc. Unless you count French fries or celery with the chicken wings as a veggie, you are out of luck. I asked the question about what he can/will eat as a vegetarian and got back the following guidelines.
No red meat including venison, no pork or pork products, no chicken, no turkey, no fish, no cheese, no eggs, no butter, no spaghetti sauce if it was made with meat in it, no pizzas with cheese and veggies..... Bottom line is that I am totally lost trying to plan a menu for trout camp 2 weeks from this coming weekend. Going on line does not help because it seems that 99% of the recipes I find are made with one or more of the things on the "No" list. Anyone have any experience in such things??
