I have an update on my knee surgery for those of you who might be interested.

I talked to the doctor yesterday and apparently after the surgery I was left with a wrong interpretation of his post operative instructions. Most probably it was , or at least I'll blame it on, the drugs. What was bothering me and why I was asking questions of you guys was that I thought his instructions were that he wanted me to start putting full load on my knee the next day. What he said was that I "could" put full load on my knee if I felt like it. With that slight adjustment to my mindset I'm probably right on track. Hopefully that's still the case after last night. Last night I had an "issue" with my crutch. It didn't want to go where I wanted it to go. Damn thing. I thought it was inert. Apparently, not so. It wanted to stay right where it was and refused an order to march. Now the other one, the good crutch, moved right out. The result was that I was tossed like some kids old rag doll completely across the room headlong into the closet doors blowing two of the three right off the tracks. Luckily, it was not a large room and the closet doors acted like a shock absorber taking much of the hit and lowering me to the floor without much dignity but without much damage either. As I was on my way to bed anyway, I just bucked up on a double dose of Oxycontin and called it a night (with a Oxycodone-Acteaminophen chaser). Everything still seems connected this morning so I'm chucking it up to the supernatural and moving on. When I had my back surgery 15 years ago I was living on Brendon and my recovery was much safer. I had hand holds everywhere, the head was small enough that moving around in it wasn't a life threating adventure and I could reach the refrigerator, head and TV without going more then ten steps. My wife recovered from her hip replacement surgery on Brendon and six weeks post op I have a picture of her standing on a table at Oktoberfest in Munich with a beer mug in one hand and her cane in the other. From an operational standpoint, it is becoming clear to me that recovering on a sailboat is far more enjoyable then recovering as a dirt dweller. Once again, IMHO
