I think that if you have a larger vessel it's the place to go. We went there for bottom paint and used the commercial version of Trinidad the yard suggested. They did a great job.
We did have one problem though. When they washed the boat before putting it back in the water they used some strong cleaner that hurt the Lexan ports and fiberglass. We had a lot of dull areas from cleaner runs. It took almost 2 years before we managed to remove any signs of the caustic stuff. It would be wise to watch and approve any surface cleaner they might use. Better yet, bring something you'd prefer to use.
Once we went there we were prepared to go every time. It's only a day sail from San Diego and you're in a different country. Like being on a cruise only it's not a cruise it's a boatyard to haul out in.
You need to go through the hassle of customs and immigration but Baja Naval takes care of that as well and I think the customs clearance is good for at least 5 years.
