Tom. Another thought on keeping your car.
In Response To: Car or no car? ()

I had a thought. If you'll be in Ensenada and the Mexican Gold Coast for a while will you be returning to the states for visits? I guess I mean, will you be doing any 'commute cruising?.

If your plans are to possibly return once in a while or even if your not sure you might keep the car in storage in San Diego or somewhere near family for the first year to see if you will use it. You can put the insurance on a 'non use' status so it will probably cost about 35.00 a month for storage or you could even keep it at some family's property for nothing. If you don't use it then sell it. You certainly won't need one in Ensenada but if you visit family you might want one instead of renting. I guess it's all a numbers or dollar game to determine if it's worth it.

We always had a car since we kept a small apartment with garage in San Clemente Ca. while cruising.

What do you other 'long term cruisers' do? Does anyone still keep a car in the states when cruising?
