FYI..... You can take your car down the Baja NO problem. No TIP required, or at least the last time I looked. BUT, if you want to take it past Km 21 or the hassle free zone on the mainland, you WILL need a TIP.

By the way, they have car ferries from Santa Roselia and La Paz that you can take your car across to the mainland (if you have a TIP) and back.
