bolt failure

Although your analogies are applicable it seems as though it wasn't just bolt failure. There appears to be some corrosion around some of the bolt holes so it could have started with a broken bolt but there is a lot of broken fiber glass add well so it could have been the hull structure that gave up first. Either way the concept of providing a much larger bearing surface is the way to go. Jon, can you post any drawings of your keel joint?
