I've always questioned the makers of mechanical fittings who recommend using sealant inside the terminal. Knowing that salt water trapped inside stainless in the absence or air is a problem -- seems to me that practice can only aggravate corrosion. Sealants can't get inside between the strands, but water can. I think it makes more sense to use liquid like Boeshield or Corrosion-X, but ONLY if the wire is dry and has never been exposed to salt water. Salt being hydroscopic, if it's ever been exposed I'd leave it dry (without sealant or ant-corrosive coating) rather than risk trapping the moist salt residue inside.
