Thanks, I have Skipper. I see some small differences, Vector vs Raster.

Slightly different detail of rocks but essentially the same info. Not enough to concern me so I guess like you say, whichever app works best underway is the one I'll use. I'm just happy to gain redundancy through several devices.

I'm with Steve, I can't imagine dangerously closing on hazards based solely on my 'supposed' location on a questionable paper chart or even with the accuracy of GPS and e-charts(same questionable data). You can't help newbs, a few will do that. And desperation will drive a few into that trap(that scenario could find me too, so I don't cast stones).

Echarts have not changed navigation and piloting for me. Confirming depths on your sounder (hello...), making visual bearings and identification of the hazards safe off. Eyes, eyes, eyes.

It's just simple safe navigation 101, e-charts don't change that, they're just a more accurate tool. You'd have to be crazy not to use it and the few arguments left against these tools are lame.

And besides, mishaps due to improper navigation are still a drop in the bucket. The big culprits in putting your boat where it ought not be are, operator inattention(eyes) and improper lookout(eyes, again,...).
