I too confess to cutting the hose and ferrule off and using new hose and clamps, works with good quality hose clamps. I have also cut hose and ferrule off and taken it to the hydraulic hose pros to put new steel braided hose and ferrules on, works great and gives me peace of mind about chafe issues in the future.
