I have used a bench grinder to.. 
In Response To: Thanks for all this. How did you cut the fitting clamp off?

() ...cut through the layer on the outside of the hose first, then a pair of diagonal cutters to snip through the final part near the banjo.
I am sure you could use a dremel tool too.
