Plus the added danger that with the mainsheet running below the boom, I worry more about pulling the dodger off the cabin top! 
The loose mainsheet in a crash jibe is a real hazard, no matter where the traveler is. I have friends that ripped the binnacle loose from the cockpit sole on their J34, doing a crash jibe.
