When we bought our boat 15 years ago I installed a Link 10 battery monitor. It has done everything I wanted and would be happy with Xantrex's updated version - assuming it is as good. Now we are getting a new old boat and will need to update the battery and charging system. Anyone have advice on the Xantrex or other options? Our routine with the Link 10 was to leave it on "Amps" nearly all the time to monitor if something got left on. The 4-segment "gas gauge" was on all the time and we would occasionally look at volts or A-H drawn. The other parts of the system will be 4 golf cart house bank (Trojans rule!), a separate cranking battery on an isolator, a high output alternator and external smart charger. There is no need to monitor the cranking battery. It will get connected to the stock analog volt meter.
