Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

Hi Peter, no we ate in due to the foul weather.

But have heard great things about the Fireside. We had a nice tour of the FDR park and grounds yesterday before the rains moved in. We had intended to sail to Campobello this summer but decided to stay close to home instead and do the FDR tour by car. It was a great little trip.

We're spoiled being so close to Canada(driven to Halifax, Yarmouth, Quebec City so far). The driving gets easier when you head east from Rockport. Scenic, no traffic, easy. The opposite heading in the other direction, south-west, which we do more often, for family and what that direction has to offer(also a lot). In fact traffic can be such a bear heading down the coast, at times it feels like it would be easier to go by sailboat.

3 1/2 hours to Campobello, and an easy drive at that. It is a very pretty island as is all the coast in the area.
