For my Overboard Vented Loop, I also use an elbow fitting to the top vent cap and run that to the outside. Forespar will sell that fitting too. This is where the Duckbill Siphon Break doo-hicky is, that should be removed and cleaned periodically. I ran the vent outside so no smell cold escape.

I use a heat gun with that sanitation hose, however I am super careful and on low heat. You have to heat just enough and NOT too much, it will disintegrate immediately if you do. I have better luck that way than the hot water trick, although that works.

Raritan sells a 1.5" flexible sanitation hose … looks cool, although I have not used it nor have I heard if it will keep any odor from escaping.
