2nd vote for Tef-Gel
Tefgel or silicone sealant
I you use silicon -- make sure its marine silicone (no acid)!

There others, other than Boat Life -- but I prefer Lifeseal to silicone

Good point on backing out. We have had no
Teflon thread tape.
I've found that allows it back-out screws, but it's not a good corrosion blocker. The "tape" tears and then...
