• Spreader tips: What's the best chafe protection?
  • I know you have a wooden boat and this looks like it'll take care of the chafe issue

  • You mean extend the batten's 'length' using the adjustement?
    • You may be right. I didn't put much tension in the battens on first install.
      • Do you have velcro "compressor" at the leech where you slide the battens in?
        • Yes on the velcro, no on the cunningham.
          • Do you have a screw adjustment at the slide too?
            • Just a "stuffer"(short piece of batten).
              • It's possible that the lower battens aren't stiff enough.
  • Lazyjacks
    • My problem is the shallow angle of the Lazy Jacks.
      • Would you add another line?
        • Just raise the attachment and stay with one line, 4 legs on the boom.

  • I use elk hide & a baseball stitch ...
    • I do the same although my stitching isn't as nice.
      • I think sewing hide around those bronze hoops is more than I want to take on.

    • I think every spreader end chafes sails.
      • Take some mesh chafe tubes that are used for lines
        • That's an idea. I'll look into that.
