Do you have velcro "compressor" at the leech where you slide the battens in?

Our North Sails have always had those. I do think your batten looked a little tight to me. It could be a combination of issues. (Look at the "stress" folds from the clew leading up toward the head of the sail.)
The general position of the maximum draft looked pretty good to me. Modern mains are generally cut flatter than old sails.
Do you have a Cunningham?
