You can reuse the insert threads a number of times, but not as durable as stainless.

The rather strange gooseneck on my boat is an example - there are SS knuckles that take a working load of about 6 tons each. They are held on with six 3/8-16 bolts, threaded into G10. They get removed every time the boat is derigged. No problems yet. One nice thing about the method is that if the threads wear out or strip, you just drill is out to the OD of the insert, and glue in a replacement. SS threads are no doubt more durable for frequent reuse - but harder to replace too.
