I use 75 feet of chain, but use the snubber almost always. Without it the chain seems to be noisy on the bow roller, so even in calms I'll use 5-6 feet on the snubber. I have 12 feet of 1/2 nylon.

Smaller boat of course, with only 3'6" draft

Bought one of the Johnson chain hooks, but it tends to fall off, so went back to the galvanized hook. I've also used the rolling hitch-it never fell off
