From link below: "The Corps of Engineers advises that the navigation gate at the Stamford Hurricane Barrier will be closed from approx 0600 - 190 on Tuesday Sept. 29th and may be closed on Wednesday Sept 30th from approximately 0730 - 2000 due to a scheduled 5 yr maintenance servicing of the barrier".
Why schedule 5 yr maintenance servicing at the height of hurricane season, and render the gate inoperable for 2 days so no boats can seek shelter? It was closed the 2 days prior to a major northeaster with a forecast probability of a hurricane to follow.
Perhaps they might give thought to doing the next scheduled 5 yr maintenance servicing during May or June, or even weekdays July/August?
