Yeah, that was kinda my thinking too... the sea can be a harsh mistress... and teaches lessons severely. I suspect that just a bit of time in open water would soon be enough... the only problem is that if he headed south (his plan) and made it past Ensenada, he would soon find himself out of easy reach of both the Coast Guard and the Mexican Navy. The Baja coast tends to be a bit on the rugged side... especially south of El Rosario... really the last "coastal town" on the Pacific side, until you get down to Scammon's Lagoon, and Guerrero Negro. Beyond that, comes the tip of Baja.

But hey, who knows, maybe he can just drift/sail offshore and just sort of follow Baja HaHa when they take off at the end of October...

It just shocked me at the total lack of knowledge that this guy seemed to display.
