I confess I snuck down to the broker's this past weekend to check this boat out again. The weather and light were much better and I had a little more time. The lines are very pleasing however the broker's glowing description of the boat and reality are somewhat different (shocking!). It sounds like the PO threw a bunch of boat units at it in the last few years but taking a look under the shaky winter tarp job it appears to be a major cosmetic do over. It like there was a boot stripe molded into the hull which is now covered in bottom paint which extends well past it up the side. I suppose the boat could have been loaded down that much for cruising but still. The teak was probably really nice looking even a few years ago but is now peeling and green.
IMHO, this is an over priced project boat that would require a huge amount of time and money to bring back. I suspect it will be there for some time.
Very interesting that Bob Perry's designs were taken off to the far east to be pirate built, I don't recall that post. He did draw up some pretty damn cool ones, this is our Islander 28.
