You missed the "-" Westy. Traditional polysulfide(I think?) rubber caulking.

I'm think to resaw the Ipe to 1/2" thick out of 1 1/2" stock that should give me quarter sawn for most stable grain. I think too that the small width, 1 1/2" and 1/8" caulk spaces shouldn't have much movement to start with. That's the sizing of my cockpit sole which is original and still in too bad shape.

I use a dust collector if I have a lot of sawing to do, but I will also use a real respirator. I've heard warnings about this type of hardwood.

First thing I'll do is put a few pieces of Ipe-rough sawn surface down-in some expoxy on marine ply, to check the adhesion.
