Sounds like a good plan. On the Ipe, I would strongly suggest aREALLY good respirator while cutting
SECOND THAT! Don't cut them there woods without one. I hurt myself doing a time or two, don't you.
You missed the "-" Westy. Traditional polysulfide(I think?) rubber caulking.
