I noticed you have the same tilt problem I have, about ~1.8 degrees. You tend to rotate in the CCW direction, while I tend to rotate in the CW direction. Maybe it's my time in the southern hemisphere and all your time in Maine 
Fortunately I can project a grid in the view finder of my 5DIII to help with the issue.
