Cut away forefoot and deadwood, fin keel and skeg rudder is a great combo in my experience.

Turns well but tracks well. Many examples of that in "images" on search engine.
So sorry your Hunter is not well put together. I love that interior layout in various sized boats up to and including the 33'. Accessible, convenient, roomy visually.

- There are a lot of factors -- not the least of which is that there's no "bright line" of tubbiness
