I generally only had the rig on board temporarily. My ground was a 9 sq. gt piece of copper sheer I tossed over the side. I also operated successfully by putting the copper sheet against the hull under a settee. It worked fine. My main concern was RF in the cabin with my makeshift setup. I know quite a few people who use a dynaplate and/or a bit of bronze mesh against the hull for the ground.
