I remember that, Paul. Short fat dinghies go way back.

I see quite a few old dinks that were designed to go on the cabintop of specific boats. Usually in chocks, some are stowed upright with covers. It takes a pretty big boat to stow tenders like these on the cabin so it is out of the way. And you still end up with short beam to length ratio like these pretty tenders that fit on cabins.

My boat was fitted with chocks for a Dyer midget(I removed them). Nice little dinghy but completely worthless for our use, especially with 2 kids and a couple dogs.
