We were down in Scammons Lagoon in Baja a couple of month ago and ran across this fellow. Actually, a bunch of us from our club charted a bus and a guide. We went down on a week trip and saw, petted and photographed these guys for two days out on the water. What a magical experience. It's the only place that I know of where a mother animal will push her baby up to the side of a boat so they can be touched and petted by humans. This went on all day long for two days. The 65/70 foot long mothers would come up occasionally for a pet as well.
