I'm surrounded by craftsmen at the local http://www.woodschool.org/ . Our friend (the banjo player), teaches there so we go to the student works shows. It's mind blowing to see what true craftsmen can achieve with their hands.
They offer all kinds of classes from weekend intro stuff to year long college accredited courses for budding furniture designers and builders. I love to see the students and state of the art shop and the level of work that comes out of the school.
For me the reward of working with my hands is the return from living in my work or using it (such as sailing it). That may be the reason our friend Aled - who has built hundreds of works of art over his career - loves none of it so much as playing the banjo he built.
