The lockers stored extra food and drink for the trip, Mary Ann's oil painting supplies(a couple large bags), etc. Storing garbage and recyclables is getting to be a big storage item. It's amazing how fast that adds up for a coastal cruiser foraging along the way(long term cruisers are better, no doubt).

I keep two tall kitchen trash receptacles in there. One for trash and one for recyclables. They quickly filled up and there's not always a place onshore to get rid of trash and recyclables. I can see if we went longer, we'd need more. When not in use, they nest so they take no space.

The bikes only got used once but worth having. They're back in the garage now and you can sleep in the lockers again.
