I had two Wichard four inch snaphooks welded to SS plates and bolted them where the horns used to be. Now when I reef the D ring goes into the snaphook and will not come out while I am tightening the halyard.

BTW. Be sure to test the webbing length of each D ring. As the sail bunches up on the boom the webbing must be longer on the subsequent reefs.
