probably, If you're trying to do it fast and cheap then ground it to the engine. (nm)

The ICOM manual is great. I suggest anyone doing SSB on a boat should take a look...
The one thing you do not want to do is connect the RF ground to anything that is connected to your DC ground...
By accident I had my SSB ground connected to my engine for almost 5 years
