I have bronze screen tucked into every locker below the waterline that I could access. It's all bonded to the tuner and HF radio with 3" copper strap. I also ran the copper strap to my two monel water tanks and to a small Dynaplate that came with the boat. I've tried transmitting with the strap disconnected from the Dynaplate, there was no noticeable signal loss. The only thing that I would do differently today is to run a diagonal bead of solder across each piece of bronze screen to help maintain an electrical bond between the screen wires as they develop surface corrosion. Obviously I'm of the "more ground plane the better" school. That being said, I've heard perfectly fine signals from marine mobile stations who have nothing more than six feet of copper strap running to a single bronze through hull as per Gordon West. Catalina Kid has his copper strap running to a single keel bolt. I've worked him half way across the Pacific on the ham bands from my home in Maine.
