to Great Exuma Island and Georgetown, Elizabeth Harbour is between the mainland and Stocking Island, which is about a mile across the Harbour. In the center of Stocking Island, protected to and open to the west, or the Harbour side, are three hurricane holes, one to the south that you won't be able to get into, and two to the north, both of which you will have no problem getting into. Both these Holes are filled with moorings, most are owned by the St. Francis Resort (Jill or George, South Africans, he is the St. Francis Marine catamaran dealer), or a fellow that goes by Lil Toot. There are a few other private owners who also rent moorings, and probably several cruisers who set their own screws. These moorings will likely be full during the winter months, so early reservations are probably essential.
If you are in fact serious, I would order up the three Explorer Charts by Monty & Sara Lewis (Near Bahamas, Far Bahamas & Exumas/Ragged Islands) before you go to much further. These are by far the best and most accurate paper charts (also electronic) and are loaded with other helpful information. I also like Steve Dodge's Abaco Guide for the Abacos.
Have fun and see you there ! cheers, John
