We had new lifelines put on by a rigger in Trinidad. 2 years later they were all sticky so, during a passage, I took a knife out and stripped it off.

Have to say that I like it better with just wire but at night you can't see it as good as the white. When going forward at night you need to be careful as you can't see it a easily.
