By all means use uncoated wire

We stripped the coating off.

Had non coated made 6 yrs ago and no problem with abrasion at stanchions.

Voice in dissent - I like vinyl coated
I agree -- think egg slicer anaology... Synthetic might be better
Uppers I use Amsteel, lowers use bare wire. (nm)
Same here. I just replaced mine with new vinyl coated
People..you have to PERFORM MAINTENANCE..coated/uncoated
