and how do you fasten it? My other concern is fluttering against the topsides, and resulting wear on the finish.
I haven't covered my boats (other than the cockpit) for the last 8 years because of chafe and general hassle of poly covers, the expense of custom covers (e.g Fairclough), and I don't like shrink-wrap for various reasons. One of Tom Young's posts last year about freeze-thaw made me decide to join the crowd again. I built a Kover Klamps frame and bought the blue poly -- so I'm looking for tips from people who do it annually.
It's funny because everyone has their own system -- this weekend while completing my frame I chatted with a guy who uses PVC pipe. I had been thinking that's probably a better way to go (lighter and cheaper, no rust, and no marring the deck) and then he came over and said he admired the strength of the Kover Klamps system, and thought he might use it in the future... then we discussed the pros and cons of tying beneath the boat, tying to a tight perimeter line below the hull/deck joint, and using heavy weights to maintain tension. I'm thinking this is more art than science. ;)
