We had our canvas work done in January of 2001. The dodger is Stamoid with Stratoglass and the bimini is 'Toast Tweed' with a backing of vinyl.
The bimini, has been restitched twice (stitching on the zippers gave way first with with the rest soon after). The dodger has been restitched once. The Stratoglass on the dodger had the center roll down window replaced as it was scratched badly.
Some of the zippers have been replaced. ( all the zippers that are exposed to the sun) Some have a sun flap over to protect them and all those zippers are fine.
We have a bimini extention off the rear that's standard Sumbrella and had lost all it's waterproofing so last week we soaked it with Thompsons Water Seal. Others have suggested that it's not the best to use but here in Panama it all that was available. It darkened it but it's now completely waterpoof and has regained some of it's sizing (is that the right word?)
We have just had a major event. The Stratoglass on one corner has cracked. The Admiral was polishing it and put some pressure to get rid of a scratch and it just cracked. It appears that in less than two years it will all have to be replaced.
That would be 10 years service with 2 restitchings and a panel replaced. We do it all ourselves with a Thompson sewing machine (same as a Sailright).
As a final note. We left Florida in March 2001 and have been in the tropics for 6 out of the 9 years.
