That's what I am doing for anchor lights.

() Mounting 2 Bebi owl lights on top of the lower spreaders about 1 foot out from the mast. My idea is they will illuminate the mast - sort of like the 5-spreader megayachts we saw in BVI that were lit up like oil rigs. Pointing up they would not shine through the hatches too much.
