... get the MapTech Chartkits, I think I can get by with two for now, Florida to Norfolk, and Cape May to Nantucket. I'll probably roll the dice and skip Chesapeake and Delaware Bay, and once we get to Cape Cod, if we go to Maine this summer, get that one then, probably 2nd hand. And I think I will skip the C-Map's for now and buy a Garmin 440s or a 500 series plotter for the trip. I've always wanted a back-up electronic chart plotter for redundancy, if something happened to my older Raymarine Pathfinders, I'd be screwed. I do have the small Garmin Colorado with all the Charts we use in the Bahamas on the dinghy, but I can't imagine looking at that screen for anything but an emergency.
For the trip back down south in the fall, we'll spend more time exploring, and perhaps then the C-Map charts ... by then, maybe I can locate them on eBay for a lot less $ !
I do have MacENC on my MAC with the downloadable charts for free that I use for planning, but we don't like to use the computer on passage ... it consumes too much power ... and I like the Plotter screen right on the Helm where I need it.
Thanks again, cheers, John
