For me, its the interface that makes the difference

All of this stuff needs programming. The difference in ease of use and logic among different manufacturers is amazing. From digital cameras to chartplotters and microwave ovens, the programming team can make or break a purchase for me.
After playing around with different pieces of electronic equipment for the past 20 years I find that if I can't figure out the device without the manual, the programming doesn't work for me. We have 3 GPS's. A C-Series chartplotter in the navigation station, a Furuno 35 dedicated GPS also in the navigation station ( connects to a computer ) and a small Garmin chartplotter at the helm. The programming on each is completely different.
It's the interface that makes the difference for me.
