Raymarine obsoletes product and replaces it with the same function with a different look. Their sailing instruments are a prime example. This is marketing driven. Many times minor component failure forces you to replace a major piece of equipment. They will not replace a transistor, resistor, etc, or even look for the cause of the problem with an older piece of gear. It is in their best interest and not the customers, to get you to replace it.
