something we learned in Alaska (where we only got one shot usually). I always deployed my full scope of chain (75') no matter how shallow the water, then added nylon rode as needed. I used the Delta almost exclusively this winter in the Abacos and we never drug, though a number of boats did ...in nearly every anchorage. We always let out chain at the same speed the boat was drifting downwind and then let the anchor line up at the end of the scope before backing down. I was surprised at how few people backed down on their anchors at all over there. I'm a big Bruce fan but there was a lot of grass in most of the anchorages and felt more secure deploying the Delta which seemed to punch through better. I'm sure the Rocna/Manson would be even better but they won't fit my bowsprit.
Bruce, Delta, Danforth seem to cover all the situations we have found ourselves in so far.
