But I agree with on your comments on seizing with wire. I use stainless wire. Any particular reason monel is better?

My friend's boat is worth about $350k and it incurred about $60k worth of damage (and the party who pulled it off the rocks had the right to make a salvage claim). It just doesn't make sense to cheap-out on mooring tackle or maintenance. (In defense of my friend, this was a rented mooring and the owner had mislead him about the maintenance. The lesson here is whether you rent or own, if you're going to be on the mooring long-term it makes sense to insist on a direct relationship with the person who is supposedly inspecting/maintaining it, or spend a hundred bucks give or take to hire an inspection yourself.)

Also -- wire ties in black are MUCH more UV resistant than the translucent type.
